This track is so much wrong and right mixed together- squirty moog-sounding synths frame some smoothed lady vocals. This track demands being blasted out of a jeep, at a beach, to the ire of stern college deans the world over. Audio smoothie.
HE 6 – Whiter Shade of Pale – 1972
A charming take take on a 60’s classic, switching back and forth between Korean and English. Notice the cover, too. HE-6 look pretty dapper in their pea coats and oxford shirts, though distracted by something happening outside the frame.
Han Dae Soo – If You Want Me To (네가 내게 원한다면)
Han Dae Soo has a pretty peculiar story. Born in Pusan but educated in New York, he’s been bouncing back and forth ever since, which explains why many of his songs are in English. Anyway, this is some epic pysch rock here. Unabashedly out of step with his contemporaries, heavy in whatever decade it belongs in.
Kim Jung Mi – Your Dream Like A Stream (당신의 꿈)(1973)
An epic jam here. With Kim Jung Mi’s voice and Shin Jung Hyun’s warbling guitar riff the five and half minutes passes like nothing.
